Tons of mud down-sliding
Bushes and rocks and trees
Rain for a week or more
Houses and yard and street
Were all tumbled about
The river was up in flood
A train went into a mountain
And never come out again

Dig for three days, dumbly
Yellow clay all turned to soup
Shovel and bucket and shovel
Tired diggers all turned to mud
Shovel and bucket and shovel
Was all that came out of the ground
A train went into a mountain
And never come out again

No air for who’s left
They couldn’t use it anyway
No room for the crushed
No time to prepare
Just try to get out
No foothold upon which to stand
A train went into a mountain
And never come out again

Two arches are all that’s left standing
On each side of a hill, tucked away
One never got used at all since then
You can’t get out, that way
The other is where is where they went in at
And never come out again
