Got to start putting these out there while I still can, so here goes. I wrote this one before the first Gulf War started in January ’92. When I saw the long lines of prisoners standing in the desert, I knew that this pome must have actually happened.

The morning simmers
Brings tempers to full boil
Stay shaded,think of water
Looking out over the valley
Smoke rising sluggishly
Lifts over the horizon
The other guys steam off
Think help will come?
It has to, one says
No one else believes him
Laughs under the breath
Just sit still and conserve
The Americans will be here
Soon
